NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

NUANCE Welcomes NURPH Students for Electron Microscopy Demonstration

On June 29, the NUANCE Center welcomed nine students from the Northwestern University Research Program for High Schoolers (NURPH) for a demonstration of electron microscopy led by EPIC Core Scientist Nick Gogola.

During the session, students were introduced to scanning electron microscopy and learned how researchers use advanced imaging to study materials at the micro- and nanoscale. The demonstration provided a firsthand look at the capabilities of the NUANCE Center's instrumentation and the role these tools play in scientific discovery.

NURPH is a seven-week paid summer research program that gives Chicago and Evanston-area high school students the opportunity to conduct research alongside Northwestern scientists. Through outreach experiences like this, NUANCE is proud to support STEM education and inspire the next generation of researchers.
