NUANCE Welcomes Prospective Mechanical Engineering PhD Students for Facility Tour

On March 6, 2026, the NUANCE Center welcomed a group of 20 prospective PhD students as part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s graduate recruitment programming at Northwestern University.

The NUANCE facility tour provided an opportunity for admitted students—who are currently considering Northwestern—to explore the advanced research infrastructure available to them. The visit offered a closer look at the shared instrumentation and technical expertise that support a wide range of research areas, including materials characterization, nanotechnology, and device fabrication.

During the tour, NUANCE staff introduced students to key facilities and highlighted how researchers across campus utilize these resources to enable high-impact, interdisciplinary work. Prospective students also had the opportunity to ask questions about training, access, and how NUANCE integrates into the broader research ecosystem at Northwestern.
