NUANCE: Nanoscale Characterization Experimental Center

BioCryo Joins the CLP Core Crawl

On November 18th, NUANCE’s BioCryo facility took part in the Chemistry for Life Processes annual CLP Core Crawl. Located in Silverman Hall, the event attracted more than 100 students and staff.  Attendees stopped by to learn how BioCryo’s Cryo-EM capabilities support structural biology, sample preparation, and high-resolution imaging—while enjoying the event’s mix of poster presentations, beverages, and plenty of pizza.

Known for its social, open-house atmosphere, the Core Crawl makes it easy for attendees to meet staff, explore instrumentation, and connect with core facilities across campus. BioCryo was excited to join the event, showcase its imaging capabilities, and highlight how Cryo-EM can accelerate a wide range of biological and biomedical projects.

The event was sponsored by Thermo Scientific, DAI Scientific, and Millipore Sigma, with support from Northwestern’s Office for Research—helping create a fun, collaborative space for the research community to come together.
