What's It Made Of? Keys!

EPIC Microscopy and Imaging Specialist, Eric Miller, takes a closer look at keys.  The first key examined is a brass colored key, which we find is made of 63% copper (Cu) and 37% Zinc (Zn).  Elements in these quantities make a typical common brass key.

When he examines a silver colored key, he finds that it contains the coating is nickel, but the interior main body of the key consists of copper and zinc (common brass, just like the first key). Why coat it with nickel?  Click here to access the video and find out.
