What does the Acton TriVista CRS System do?

 

PI’s new TriVista Confocal Raman Microscope System (CRS) combines the high resolution, low frequency and tuning capabilities of the renowned Acton triple spectrograph with the extensive range of high performance CCD detectors and Olympus upright microscopes to bring you dedicated Confocal Raman systems with both macro and micro sampling capabilities. They have been designed to deliver extreme performance and flexibility.

At the heart of the TriVista Confocal Raman System lies our renowned triple spectrograph which allows investigation of minute structuNUAPD001292ral changes requiring the highest possible resolution (up to 0.13 cm-1) and detection of low frequency Raman bands extremely close to the laser line (less than 5 cm-1). Its inherent tuning capabilities negate the necessity for multiple notch filters in order to be able to use several different excitation wavelengths.

 

 

Full integration with Olympus upright BX51 microscopes allows structural information to be gained on a micro-scale level and gives spectroscopic data with spatial accuracy. A high degree of confocality is achieved for spectroscopic measurements by utilizing the excellent imaging characteristics of our spectrometers and CCD detectors, in conjunction with a pin-hole aperture and software manipulation.

This high degree of confocality, which is essentially the elimination of off-axis and scattered light from the sampling volume, results in improved fluorescence rejection as well as increased spatial accuracy as the spectra are almost entirely obtained from the focal point of the laser. This is ideal for applications requiring structural information with a high degree of spatial accuracy from within a bulk sample such as investigating drug components within an experiment or analyzing defects in semiconductor wafers.
